The London Vanguards aims to work effectively with communities to co-produce better outcomes for children and young people at risk of being involved in violence. The model of care provides therapeutic services whilst addressing local inequalities and marginalisation to improve the lives of children and young people with complex needs and their family or carers.
Key to the model is an ethos of co-production, partnership and collaboration. This means being child or young person-centred, engaging with local communities, children and young people at risk and community leaders to co-create services that deliver improvements to the wellbeing of children, young people and family or carers.
The three London Vanguards were awarded to North Central London, North East London and South East London following a competitive process open to all five London ICSs. The London Vanguards are currently mobilising with peer support from national vanguards. They are working towards delivering services that offer psychological, trauma-informed support for children and young people aged 0-25 who are impacted or at risk of violence. The multi-systems approach will promote partnerships between health, social care, community, justice and VCSE sector.
